The Badagry Local Government has proposed the sum of #2,563,315,447.36k for the 2021 fiscal year.
The chairman of the local government Hon. Olusegun Onilude made this known during the week at the presentation of the proposed budget tagged “budget of Enhanced Consolidation ” to the members of the legislative arm of the council.
Onilude pointed out that this year being the last in the Four year tenure of his administration in the local government ” would not be a wise decision to begin to moot or conceive new and time consuming projects that are almost sure to be consigned into the dustbin of abandoned projects . Rather it suffices and make a lot of sense to direct our resources and energy towards the completion of the existing projects that we considered most beneficial to our people which for lack of funds, we have been unable to complete before now ” He said.
A break down of the proposed budget shows that, recurrent expenditure would gulp #1,841,764.45k, while Social Service expenditure is expected to receive #388,790,000 and the sum of #382,660,682.91k would be spent on non current assets.
Onilude noted that the the total sum of the budget was meant to facilitate the completion of on – going projects in the council areas.
These projects he said include, construction of a two storey building administrative block, completion of a storey building of one event hall, one court, one mini hall, 12 offices and 16 toilets at the former customary Court, construction of three public toilets within the council secretariat, completion of Badagry Round About motor park, L A Primary school Iyafin and rehabilitation of Marina Primary Health Centre among others .
In his speech at the occasion the Leader of the legislative arm of the council Hon Taofeek Akindele commended the giant strides of Onilude at transforming the local government area with his people’s oriented programmes in the last three years.
He was optimistic members of the legislative arm of the council would expedite action to pass the budget as soon as possible.
