The member, representing Otukpo/Ohimini federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Lady Blessing Onuh has donated cash palliatives of ten thousand naira(10,000) each to over 200 beneficiaries.
TheSKY Newspaper gathered during the launch of the distribution of Micro Enterprises Enablement Scheme (MEES) organized by Lady Onuh in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) at Eyum Memorial Centre for Women Development, Otukpo, Benue state over the weekend that
she had earlier disbursed 8.6 Million naira, facemasks and hand sanitizers to her constituents.
The initiator of the programme urged the beneficiaries to utilize the financial resources that she facilitated through the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to improve their livelihood by venturing into businesses.
Onuh said the scheme was meant to enhance the operational capacity of their businesses and promised to deploy every legislative tool at her disposal to drive home the gains of democracy that shall directly impact on the socio-economic development of her constituents.
She explained that the 200 beneficiaries were drawn from all the communities across Otukpo/Ohimini federal Constituency.
In his speech, the representative of the Director General, National Directorate of Employment, Mr Musa Saudaki advised the recipients to use the meagre resources judiciously so as to motivate their representative and the initiator of the programme, Onuh to do more.
Mr Sadauki assured that more of such incentives will come their way as the agency shall monitor utility and growth of their businesses as a measure to reduce
unemployment and communal restiveness.
The NDE representative told newsmen shortly after the flag-off of the programme that the palliatives were disbursed to 126 out of the 200 people and the next arrangement was that when the remaining balance of 74 people was found by Lady Onuh, she would go back with her team to complete the distribution.
In a vote of thanks, the recipients of the palliatives expressed happiness over Lady Onuh’s kind gesture to them.
