As the date for the conduct of Bakura Constituency State Assembly bye election draws closer, the State Government has reassured of provision of adequate security throughout the period scheduled for 31st October, 2020.

The State Deputy Executive Governor Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Muhammed disclosed this today while representing the State Executive Governor Dr. Bello Muhammad (Matawallen Maradun) at a stakeholders’ meeting organized by the State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Deputy Governor further reiterated the present administration’s commitment to protection of lives and properties of citizens as the Government already recorded enormous successes in the area of peace and security.

Barrister Mahdi, meanwhile, called on all the political parties and other relevant stakeholders to give their maximum cooperation to the Government and the operating security agencies with a view of having a secured environment for free and fair election.

According to him, the PDP led Government in the State would provide all that is required to support the Bakura State Constituency Assembly Bye Election, adding that the State Government would also strategize all security tentacles in order not to allow for any form of violence before, during and after the election.

The Acting Governor, who thanked the INEC officials for organizing the stakeholders’ meeting to discuss issues of interest in that regard, also called on the Commission not to play partisan but rather be neutral throughout the process.

Speaking earlier, the INEC Resident Commissioner in the State Mrs Asma’u Maikudi said Bakura Constituency has a total of 92,697 registered Voters, ten registration areas, 114 Polling Units and 9 Voting Points where the registered voters had collected a total of 89,615 Permanent Voters Cards, PVC, leaving a balance a balance of 2,235 which is now with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Gusau Branch.

The Commissioner, therefore, called on the political parties to observe the election regulations and guidelines by following the election time table while implementing series of activities before the final date of the election.
