Zamfara State Governor Visits IDPs Camps, Promises Adequate Security To Affected Areas

Zamfara state governor, Bello Muhammed Matawalle has today visited Internally Displaced Persons, in Asha lafiya village of Kanoma district in Maru local government area of the state.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Matawalle said he was at the camp to condole them over the recent attacks in some communities by armed bandits, which claimed over 36 lives, losing properties worth millions of naira.

He said, “the government would not fold it’s hand and allow some disgruntled elements to continue killing innocent souls, therefore the government would take necessary action against anybody found wanting” he lamented.

According to the governor, all the affected villages which include Dutsin Gari, Rayau,Talli, Mahuta, and Makuru among others, will be given assistance, and those who are at Asha lafiya village refugees camp, would be taken care off by the government.

He however assured that, by Monday next week, the government will convey them back to their respective villages, and assign security personnel to remain with them, until the peace is restored.

Responding, the Emir of Maru Alhaji Abubakar Maigari, thanked the governor for the condolence visit and promise earlier made to provide IDPs with relief materials, and also to provide adequate security to the affected villages, in the area.

He urged the governor to ensure that the assistance of foodstuffs, and relief materials promised to them, shall come in time so that they can live at ease.

In a related development, the governor also condoled the families of the deceased in Janbako district of Maradun Local Government, who lost their loved ones.

He donated the sum of N5M to the families of the deceased, and promise to assist them with everything needed to make them live comfortable.
